Part P notifiable work The Government has introduced Approved Document (or Part) P to help reduce the number of deaths, injuries and fires and to improve the overall quality of electrical installations, in particular, in domestic situations. Part P is one of the documents that make up the Building Regulations. It requires electrical work in certain parts of a dwelling, or garden and buildings attached to that dwelling, to be notified to the local Building Control. This is mainly the case where work is in a location where an increased risk of shock exists; showers, bathroom kitchens and gardens for example. A fee is payable for this notification and can range from £60 to £360. Orchard Electrical is a member ELECSA. This membership allows Orchard Electrical to Self Certify the work we carry out and arrange notification to local Building Control via ELECSA. Because of this, the cost is kept to a minimum and all paper work is handled by us. Once the job is completed, we will notify the relevant authorities through ELECSA and you will receive a certificate in the post. For further information on Part P please visit The Planning Portal and download their leaflet here. |
